Our Story
Great Mountain Soapstone was founded in 2002 by Roy and Cameron Wielhouwer, who had a vision to bring the natural beauty of soapstone to homeowners across Ontario. At the time, soapstone was a relatively unknown countertop option in Canada, but Cameron's father saw an opportunity to bring this unique and durable stone to the area. After sourcing the first soapstone slabs in Vermont, Great Mountain Soapstone became the premier soapstone supplier in Niagara, Hamilton, the Greater Toronto Area, cottage country, and beyond.
